Assisi is my favorite hill town in Italy! When you visit, you need to tour the Basilica of St. Francis in the center of the town, and you need to hike one of the trails above the city up to Monte Subasio.⠀ ⠀ Scroll for more of my favorite places in Tuscany, and make sure you save this post for when you're planning your own trip!
My answer to the question, "Do you ever get bored when you travel solo?" usually surprises people. Yes, I've gotten bored before. ⠀ ⠀ I've been bored on plane, train, bus and car rides because I didn't bring a book or a charger for my computer. Plan ahead to make sure you can entertain yourself when you're in transit.⠀ ⠀ At times, I've also found myself bored with some of the activities I've chosen to do while traveling. When this happens, I feel discouraged because I think I've wasted some of my precious travel time.⠀ ⠀ Every time this has happened, it's because I was doing or seeing something that a guidebook told me to do or I'm trying to find a place I always see in Instagram photos. So, prioritize the activities you want to do; don't just do something or go somewhere because it's the popular option.⠀ ⠀ If you're in Paris and you don't enjoy museums, then don't go to the Louvre. And when people ask you how you could go to Paris without visiting the Louvre, just tell them about all the other amazing things you did. ⠀ ⠀ Has a famous landmark or experience ever disappointed you? The Louvre did me, which is why I used it as my example 😂#TravelQueen #solotraveltips
When you're planning a trip to Bulgaria, the Belogradchik Fortress needs to be in your itinerary. This ancient fortress is located on the north slopes of the Balkan Mountains among the fantastically shaped Belogradchik Rocks.⠀ ⠀ Plan to spend at least half a day here hiking up into the rock formations for spectacular panoramic views! I found Bulgaria to be a great place for solo travelers, and the country as a whole is a great destination for any travelers.⠀ ⠀ What are your favorite ancient ruins you've visited?
Ladies, do this first when planning your first solo trip: research your potential destinations by doing a thorough Pinterest and Google search to gauge how many other women have traveled by themselves to these places.⠀ ⠀ If there's little to no evidence that other women have gone to these places alone, then you need to reevaluate your destination.⠀ ⠀ Stick to the roads most traveled when you're starting out traveling by yourself; it'll be less stressful and give you more peace of mind. Then after a couple trips, you can start "working up" to more remote or less-traveled-to-places. #TravelQueen #SoloTravelTips ⠀ ⠀ Where are you considering for your first solo trip? Or where was your first solo trip?

I've posted before about my process for researching and selecting where I go as a solo traveler, and I've had so many of you DM me about what's on my travel list.⠀ ⠀ The truth is, almost everywhere is on my list, but these are my "Top 10"⠀ ☀️Tunisia⠀ 🐢Galapagos Islands⠀ 🏖️Bali⠀ 🥝New Zealand⠀ 🌊Croatia⠀ 🥃Ireland⠀ ⛰️Chile⠀ 🌴Cyprus⠀ 🐒Madagascar⠀ 🗿Easter Island⠀ Clearly, I have a crush on islands! 😂 #TravelQueen ⠀ ⠀ What are your top places you want to visit?

How's your weekend going? I'm zipping through mine! ⠀ ⠀ I love doing zip lines, and it's something I've done in a lot of the places I've traveled. What activities do you like to do over and over again no matter where you travel?
Hydra was my second favorite Greek isle behind only Santorini. Most people visit Hydra as a day trip from Athens, but if you have time, this picturesque island is worth spending a few days on.⠀ ⠀ From swimming in the crystal-clear sea, laying out on the beach, horseback riding, hiking and wandering through the towns: there's something for everyone on this island! ⠀ ⠀ What are your favorite islands you've visited?
If it's one of your first solo trips, try to arrive at your destination during the day. This can make you feel less nervous and less rushed.⠀ ⠀ Arriving during the day means you probably took a redeye flight, train or bus, which gives you a better chance at being able to sleep and arrive at your destination rested.⠀ ⠀ When you arrive during the day, you also give yourself time to go ahead and get familiar with your destination - settle into your accommodation, see a sight or two, and treat yourself to a nice first meal. #TravelQueen #SoloTravelTips ⠀ ⠀ What do you do first when you arrive in a new place?
Some places you were probably already planning to visit (or daydreaming about) in Rome are the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, Piazza Navona, Vatican, Pantheon, and Roman Forum. ⠀ All of these places are absolutely worth seeing, but swipe for 5 lesser-known spots in the city you should also visit. ⠀ And save this post for when you're planning your trip! Have you been to Rome? If so, what were your favorite things to do? If not, what would you want to do first when you're here?
Choosing the destination for your first solo trip can be overwhelming - the world is a big place and you want to see a lot of it. ⠀ ⠀ But for your first solo trip, consider going to a closer and less remote destination that you can easily reach in 2-3 hours by plane or 5-6 hours by train. This will minimize your stress getting to and from your destination, make you feel like you're not as far from home and has fewer possibilities for travel delays or changes.⠀ ⠀ Start closer to home and then "work you way up" to those remote and more hard-to-reach locations on your bucket list. #TravelQueen #SoloTravelTips ⠀ ⠀ Where are you considering for your first solo trip? When you realize your outfit matches your suitcase, so you get a stranger to snap a few pics of you cruising down the street 😂⠀ ⠀ One of the best pieces of advice I can give to new or potential solo travelers is to pack light. You never need as much as you think you do. ⠀ ⠀ Brining too much stuff is one of the things travelers say stresses them out the most, so stick with interchangeable clothing, and don't go "overboard" on shoes.⠀ ⠀ Do you consistently pack too much? 🙋🏻 Because I still struggle with this.
Ballenberg is an open-air museum in Switzerland that should be on your travel itinerary; swipe to see why!⠀ ⠀ Make sure you save this post for when you're planning your trip!⠀ ⠀ Have you ever been to an open-air museum? Did you even know this was "a thing?"
I visit my sister several times a year. I fly by myself, stay at my sister's apartment, do day trips or city excursions while my sister is at work, then we do things together in the evening.⠀ ⠀ Are these "true" solo trips? No, but I'm still doing some solo travel. So, for those of you wanting to "ease yourself into" solo travel, next time you're on a business trip or visiting a friend or family member, do a couple of activities or excursions on your own to begin practicing and "working your way up" to a true solo trip. #TravelQueen #SoloTravelTips ⠀ ⠀ Where are you headed next?
Swipe for 5 must-do activities in Paris, France, and be sure you save this post for when you're planning your trip!⠀ ⠀ Paris is called "The City of Lights" for a reason, and if I could tell you to do only one thing when you're here, it would be to go to the top of the Arc de Triomphe because it has the best views of the city at night.⠀ ⠀ I couldn't put all of the incredible places and experiences Paris has to offer in one post, so what's your favorite place in the city?
Most people who learn that I do most of my traveling solo are either surprised or impressed. The truth is, I never thought that much about traveling alone. I started out traveling solo long before I was making my income from traveling - solo travel was simply the only way I could travel because my family and friends were never able or willing to travel with me.⠀ ⠀ And I was tired of sitting around and waiting for them!⠀ ⠀ So, whatever your motivations for traveling solo, the most important things is TO GET OUT THERE AND DO IT. For your first destination, choose someplace close and well-traveled and then "build up" to those remote locations around the world you've been dreaming about! #TravelQueen #SoloTravelTips ⠀ ⠀ Where was your first solo trip? Mine was Italy! ⠀ Or where do you want your first solo trip to be?
